The BrowseVIP plugin allows placement of images into an Indesign document without having to leave Indesign. To launch go to the Indesign menu and select Window then BrowseVIP. Select the required title and issue then drag and drop images directly into your page. The default option is to download the OPI image (low res placement file). However by holding down the Shift key the user can download the high res file. This can be changed in the preferences (see below).
To change the behavior of the BrowseVIP plugin go to the Indesign menu bar and select preferences BrowseVIP.
Tick on prompt for images folder if you wish to choose the saved location of images. The first image dragged into a page will allow a location to be selected. All subsequent images dragged into that page will reside in this location.
Tick on images named as document if you wish your images to be stored in a folder with the same name as your indesign document. This folder is located wherever the indesign document is located.
Leave both options unticked to store images in a folder called VIPImages. This folder is located wherever the Indesign document is located.
If Local Expansion is ticked the file is unpacked onto the local machine before copying to a server rather than expanding directly on the server.
There is also 2 further options:
Download Hig Res as default. If this option is checked the standard drag function downloads the high res rather than the OPI file. To download the OPI file the user would need to hold down the shift key whilst dragging.
Disable OPI. If this option is checked the user cannot download the OPI file at all and the only option is to download the high res file which can be done by dragging without any key held down.
